Columbia Tech Center is situated on 410 acres, the center has a mixture of office, multi-family housing, flex/industrial, medical, and retail. To guide future development and ensure a walkable, connected community, Shapiro Didway was retained to developed a pedestrian and bicycle network Master Plan for the campus and to establish implementation standards for trail components. Existing conditions data was collected (i.e. vegetation, site amenities, design precedents, etc.) and analyzed for potential trail routes, nodes and crossings. This information was synthesized into a Trail Master Plan, which identified five trail types, where node enhancements should be focused, trail crossings, parking and signage locations (by type). A handbook of implementation standards was provided to the client as a ‘tool kit’ for future development.
